With 182.2mm of rain falling in just six hours last Thursday, our thoughts are with everyone affected by the severe storm and flash flooding event along the Great Ocean Road.
We want to acknowledge the incredible efforts of emergency services and local communities providing first response to an incident that unfolded very rapidly. Thank you to the many community members who have supported one another through a very challenging time.
This week we will be out on the ground with our VICSES partners to capture vital information for updating flood models and future planning, while also gathering information on waterway damage to inform recovery needs.
Please stay aware of conditions in the area and advice from local authorities including:
• Hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
• Avoid water contact at Kennett River, Wye River and Cumberland River (@EPA investigations underway).
• Check road traffic updates at VicTraffic.
• Parts of the Great Otway National Park remain closed as @ParksVic assess and repair damage.

Please continue to look after yourselves and one another.
