What: Join the Friends of Edwards Point and Corangamite CMA for a walk through the beautiful Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve. Learn about Ramsar and importance of protecting wetland environments. Discover how the incredible FOEP volunteers care for the reserve and the basics of plant identification. Head out on a guided walk to immerse yourself in the different environments that can be found within the reserve and see how many plants, animals and flowers you can identify.
Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve is a long sand spit that extends into Swan Bay, part of the Port Phillip Bay (Western Shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar site. Swan Bay is important habitat for waterbirds and migratory shorebirds and contains extensive intertidal mudflats and seagrass beds. Edwards Point contains areas of saltmarsh, habitat and a primary food source for the critically endangered Orange-bellied Parrot.

Catering: Coffee, tea and fruit will be provided before the walk. Lunch will be provided at the end of the walk.

Additional Information: There are NO PUBLIC TOILETS at the Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve - the closest toilets are the Lower Bluff Public Toilets on Bluff Road, approximately 2min drive away.
Please be aware that this activity will be physical and will require walking. The walk could be up to 3.5km one way, but this will depend on how quickly the group moves.
We recommend you wear sturdy closed toed shoes suitable for hiking or exercise.
Bring with you; binoculars, camera, hat, drinking water, snacks and sunscreen.

NOTE: If the weather becomes unfavourable or if Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings are declared, the event will be postponed and the participants will be notified as soon as possible.
