When: Friday 16th of February – 9am til 12pm

Meeting Point: Please be aware that this activity will be conducted at two locations. Meet at Location 1 – Point Impossible, for a 9am start. You will then be required to drive yourself to Location 2 – Lake Connewarre Picnic Area, which is approximately 11km away when instructed by the activity leaders. The activity will finish at Location 2.

Location 1 - Point Impossible Road, Breamlea. Please meet at the small carpark just past the bridge over Thompsons Creek.

What: Join Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation on country to immerse yourself into two of the beautiful wetland environments found on Wadawurrung Country. The Port Phillip Bay (Western Shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar site is a series of wetland environments of international significance. These wetlands are habitat for endangered species like the Orange-bellied Parrot, Growling Grass Frog and numerous migratory shorebird species. Wetlands are among the world’s most productive environments, cradles for biological diversity.

You will visit Kurrak Panyul (Point Impossible) and see the Karaaf Wetlands before heading to Lake Connewarre where as you walk with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners you will learn the importance of wetlands and their inhabitants. Learn how Wadawurrung Ancestors nurtured and cared for wetlands for tens of thousands of years and how they still protect and care for these precious areas today.

Catering: Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Additional Information: We recommend you wear sturdy closed toed shoes suitable for hiking or exercise.

Bring with you; hat, drinking water, snacks and sunscreen.

NOTE: If the weather becomes unfavourable or if Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings are declared, the event will be postponed and the participants will be notified as soon as possible.
