Funding boost for Corangamite Landcare groups

Over $183,000 in Landcare grants will help protect environments and engage with communities across the Corangamite Region. The State Government has announced almost $2 million in funding across the state for Landcare and other environmental volunteers in the latest round of Landcare grants.

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority distribute the funding to support local Landcare groups carrying out environmental projects to improve regional waterway and land health.

Groups and projects to receive funding for on-ground works include:

  • Barongarook Landcare Group to celebrate Agro-ecology at the Otway Food and Fibre Showcase 2019
  • Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Reserves Committee of Management for protecting the Victorian Volcanic Plains ecosystems and connecting communities at Mt Leura, Camperdown.
  • Woady Yaloak Catchment Group for Linking vegetation corridors in the Woady Yaloak Catchment
  • Leslie Manor Landcare group to fill in the gap across Leslie Manor to connect Northern Woodlands to Southern Forests
  • Alvie Tree Planters for connecting communities and habitats at Drake's Lagoon
  • Bamganie Meredith and District Landcare Group to help Meredith farmers with: Flora, Fauna, Forestry and Farming
  • Heytesbury District Landcare Network to build community and biodiversity
  • Yarrowee Leigh Catchment Group to educate and create community awareness on the environmental and historical significance of Mt Buninyong Reserve
  • Barrabool Hills Landcare Group for mapping and enhancing the biological infrastructure of the Barrabool Hills
  • Barongarook Landcare Group for Stony Rises Bio Blitz Stage 2 including stories, snapshots & surveys
  • Bellarine Landcare Group Inc. to foster a nature-caring community in Bellarine's Heathy Woodland Koala country

In addition, 28 community-based environment groups will each receive $500 for group maintenance and support.
