National Water Week (21-27 Oct 2018) was celebrated in the field by our Lady Star of the Sea, St Francis Xavier Primary School students and the Corangamite CMA
At Connewarre Wetland Centre, the Corangamite CMA’s River Detectives education program and Bug Blitz* provided engaging art and science activities highlighting the biodiversity values in the Hosptial Swamp wetlands. And as always, waterbug surveys were a hit.
River Detectives is a freshwater education program that provides online resources and opportunities for regional schools to monitor the condition of their local waterways (explore the website here www.riverdetectives.net.au) .
Expressions of interest are being sought for Corangamite schools to get involved in the program for 2019. Enquiries should be directed to waterwatch@ccma.vic.gov.au or telephone 52329100.
The event was made possible by a partnership between Corangamite CMA, Geelong Field and Game and the WET trust.
*Bug Blitz TM is a project initiative of the Hugh Williamson Foundation in association with Bug Blitz Trust, Museum of Victoria, Narmbool and the E.O.Wilson Biodiversity Foundation.
