Master TreeGrower 2026 Free Introduction Day - 1 May 2026

Residents across the Southern Otways will have the chance to explore sustainable land management and agroforestry practices at a free introductory day for the Southern Otways Master TreeGrower Course 2026, to be held in Apollo Bay on Friday 1 May.

Delivered by the Otway Agroforestry Network (OAN) in partnership with the Southern Otway Landcare Network, the event marks the official launch of the 2026 Master TreeGrower program, an eight-day course designed to build practical skills and knowledge in tree growing, farm forestry and landscape resilience.

The free introductory day will run from 9.30am to 4pm and includes lunch and snacks. Participants will take part in an information session and a guided farm walk, offering a hands-on opportunity to learn more about the course content before committing to the full program.

Organisers describe the event as a “try before you buy” experience, giving people the chance to see what the Master TreeGrower course is all about in a real-world setting. The afternoon farm walk will be hosted by a local landholder, and attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and clothing, as conditions may be wet and the terrain uneven or hilly.

Importantly, the course is open to everyone. Participants do not need to own land to attend, and the skills gained are relevant to a wide range of interests, including environmental stewardship, agriculture, conservation and community resilience.

Places for the free introductory day are limited. RSVPs, including any dietary requirements, are required by Friday 24 April.
