CORANGAMITE CMA MARKS NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK WITH 'ALL IN' COMMITMENT

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) staff came together at the Colac office last week to mark National Reconciliation Week 2026 with an annual flag raising event, reflecting on this year’s theme, “All In.” The event brought staff together in recognition of the importance of reconciliation and the shared responsibility all Australians have in progressing meaningful change.

Proceedings opened with a Welcome to Country delivered by Caleb Clarke of Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation, acknowledging the deep and ongoing connection of Traditional Owners to Country, culture and waterways.

Staff also took part in an engaging and thought-provoking session led by local artist Gerard Black (Baiyami Art), who shared his family story and cultural knowledge. The session included a collaborative art activity, with Corangamite CMA staff contributing to a shared artwork, reinforcing the importance of learning, listening and connection.

The official theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026, “All In,” calls on individuals, organisations and communities to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation — recognising that it requires ongoing action, participation and partnership. Corangamite CMA Chief Executive Officer Amber Clarke said the event was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the organisation’s role in supporting reconciliation.

“National Reconciliation Week is an important time for us to come together, listen and learn,” Amber said “The ‘All In’ theme reminds us that reconciliation is a shared responsibility — one that requires commitment every day, not just during this week.”

Corangamite CMA works closely with Traditional Owners across the region, recognising their enduring knowledge, rights and connection to land and water, and the vital role they play in caring for Country. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to embedding reconciliation into its work, partnerships and everyday practices.

“We are committed to reconciliation not just this week, but every day — through our relationships, our projects and how we work alongside Traditional Owners and communities,” CEO Amber Clarke said.
