Please join Upper Barwon Landcare Network and Corangamite CMA to learn about the results of the autumn eDNA survey for platypus, fish and frogs in a presentation by ecologist Josh Griffiths, Program Manager Field and Aquatic Ecology at EnviroDNA.
The practice of collecting water samples to find traces of genetic materials from aquatic animals is a survey well suited for citizen scientist participation. At this presentation you will learn about volunteers' role in eDNA surveys, the methods used to detect platypus, fish and frogs, and the data collected at 17 sites in the Upper Barwon catchment. Josh Griffiths will compare platypus distribution with previous studies and provide new insight into the distribution of native and introduced fish species.
This important monitoring will contribute to future rehabilitation works through the Upper Barwon Flagship project.
