Mud Islands Rubbish Clean Up Day

November 9, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

About the event

Join Corangamite CMA for a rubbish clean up event at the spectacular Mud Islands in Port Phillip Bay. Mud Islands are a part of the Port Phillip Bay (Western Shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar Site and the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park. These amazing sand islands are considered an area of international significance and are habitat for many birds, included endangered species and migratory shorebirds.

Due to the currents within Port Phillip Bay, Mud Islands has rubbish wash up on the shoreline at particular times of year. Help us to remove this rubbish and protect the birdlife and marine life of the islands. All rubbish collected will be sorted and data collected to be uploaded onto the Australian Marine Debris Initiative database.

This is a free event but spaces are limited. Make sure to register below.
