HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE CURDIES

ARE you a resident within the Curdies Catchment? Do you visit the Curdies River to fish or boat? Are you a tourist travelling to Peterborough?

Then the Curdies River Coordinating Committee want to hear from you.

The headwaters of the Curdies River start at Lake Purrumbete, south of Camperdown and flows through the Heytesbury farming district.

The Curdies Catchment includes the major creeks of Cooriemungle and Scotts Creek with the Curdies River and its tributaries feeding into the Curdies estuary where it then discharges to the Bass Strait at Peterborough.

The Curdies River Coordinating Committee – previously known as the Curdies River Consultative Committee – has been established to provide a transparent and effective platform for knowledge sharing, consultation and collaboration in relation to improving the health of the Curdies River and its tributaries.

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority general manager community and catchment services Sarah Holland-Clift said the survey is an essential piece of work.

“It will enable the committee to understand what the local community values about the Curdies River and its tributaries,” she said.

“The goal is to have as many people as possible complete the survey with a diverse breadth of community members/river users represented.

“The collected data will help guide the committee’s work to make the Curdies River a healthy one for all to enjoy.”

The committee includes representatives from the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority, Agriculture Victoria, WestVic Dairy, Parks Victoria, Corangamite Shire Council, Moyne Shire Council, Environment Protection Authority Victoria, Heytesbury District Landcare Network, Wannon Watter, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Great Ocean Road Coasts and Parks Authority and six community representatives.
