Are you interested in natural Resource Management?

May 31, 2022

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority are looking for passionate locals to join their Community Engagement Network (CEN) who want to learn about and get involved in natural resource management in the Corangamite region.

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority is looking for new members who would like to join the network, who can represent a diverse range of views and skills.

Individuals who farm, fish, are involved in forestry, interested in conservation or simply like to visit their local waterway, are encouraged to apply to be apart of the Network.

The CEN will run for a three-year term and CEO John Riddiford is encouraging anyone who has a connection to the environment to consider putting in an application.

The CEN isn’t strenuous on participants with only two gatherings a year. The first Network gathering is planned for later this year. The forum will provide members the opportunity to exchange views and learn more about complex waterway issues, such as floodplain and estuary management, river health restoration, long term monitoring and research, and threatened plans and animals.

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority CEO John Riddiford said, “As a Catchment Management Authority, our key role is to improve the health of our natural resources and sustainable productivity of the Corangamite region. We can only achieve this by working with the community.”

Of the types of people, the CEN hopes to attract, Mr Riddiford said, “You might run a business that uses natural resources or be employed by one. You might be a farmer or like to relax by bushwalking or bird watching or be part of an outdoor club. All of these provide a unique insight into our natural resources”.

Applications for the Community Engagement Network are open now and will close June 27th.

Members will be appointed by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority Board and will be remunerated for their contribution.
