Celebrating 30 years of Landcare in Corangamite

July 18, 2017

Celebrating this significant milestone, achieving 30 years of a volunteer movement, provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the impressive achievements of all those involved.

The celebration event at Barwon Park in Winchelsea on Friday 14 July, was a chance to say thank you to all the volunteers who have been involved in the movement since 1986 and who have made Corangamite Landcare into the success it is today.

140 guests enjoyed exploring the mansion alongside our hosts Mr. and Mrs. Austin whilst tasting delicious local produce from the region.
Corangamite CMA’s Landcare Coordinator Tracey McRae said “the evening was a great opportunity to acknowledge 24 Landcare champions and community groups from across the region, who have contributed immensely to improving our community and the health in our catchment.”

“We are honoured to be able to capture these inspiring stories from Landcare champions and share with everyone as part of the Faces of Landcare project. We speak to many farmers across Corangamite and we know they’re doing some great works and we want to promote that more broadly.

The guests went home feeling inspired from the words of Catherine Marriott, who shared her story and passion for keeping rural Australia vibrant, successful and progressive. Catherine’s knowledge and experiences from working in agriculture her whole life and with a long connection to Landcare was stimulating.”

The Corangamite CMA’s Landcare team are always looking for ways to recognise people doing great work looking after the land. They want to share the innovative farming stories that are good for farming’s bottom line and for the environment.

We hope you enjoy this short film on the Faces of Landcare.
