The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will be coordinating erosion control works within the Barwon Through Geelong parklands precinct from 28th April to the 9th May, 2025.
Ongoing degradation of the banks of the Barwon River during times of high river flows has resulted in the destabilisation of isolated sections of the riverbanks.
The program of erosion control works on the Barwon River aims to address these erosion hotspots that may impact upon our parkland assets in the future – such as the Shared User Path. These works are important to safeguard these amenities for the community.
The Shared User Path will be closed between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday from April 28th to May 9th. The Shared User Path will be open to park users outside of these hours.
An alternative route to by-pass the closed section of path will direct pedestrians via Riversdale Road to Pakington Street (via Rutland Street) where existing access paths exist. Please refer to the map below detailing the alternative route.
