The DELWP Working for Victoria (Bellarine) team member diversified their environmental activities last week when they received training in EstuaryWatch monitoring at Spring Creek and Anglesea River estuaries. The crew learnt about the monitoring of estuary mouth condition, photopoint monitoring and water quality tests valuable for estuary management. Currently, suspension of the community volunteer data collection due to COVID-19 restrictions has presented data gaps in the EstuaryWatch and Waterwatch datasets, however, the Working for Victoria team has specialized training in hygiene measures and social distancing to manage the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Working for Victoria provides short term employment as part of the Victorian Government’s $1.7 billion economic survival package https://www.vic.gov.au/workingforvictoria.
