Carbon Farming Outreach Program

Carbon Farming Outreach Program

The Carbon Farming Outreach Program ran from 2024 to April 2026. It assisted Victorian farmers and land managers to understand carbon farming and how they can benefit from moving to a low-carbon future.

Carbon farming actions and activities can have the added benefits of increasing productivity, biodiversity, resilience to drought and can provide additional income sources. At the same time, carbon farming can reduce emissions on farms and absorb greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA)  worked together with Agriculture Victoria, Landcare and fellow regional Catchment Management Authorities across the state, to deliver tailored training in local areas.

As we move towards a low carbon future, this training provided an opportunity to learn more about carbon farming. It also provided resources summarising the best available information to address the needs of land managers and support ongoing learning.

The Victorian Carbon Farming Outreach Program is delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the National Carbon Farming Outreach Program.

The program is delivered through a partnership between Agriculture Victoria, 10 catchment management authorities, Landcare Victoria Inc and other bodies.
