VIC CMAS DELIVER REAL RESULTS FOR VICTORIA’S LANDSCAPES 

2025 Actions and Achievements report released 

Victoria’s Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs) continue to deliver strong on-ground outcomes for the state’s land, water and biodiversity, as highlighted in the 2025 Vic CMAs Actions and Achievements report. 

The report showcases how Victoria’s 10 CMAs and Melbourne Water are getting things done by working in partnership with Traditional Owners, landholders, community groups and government to protect and improve the health of Victoria’s catchments and waterways. 

CMAs play a critical role in delivering state and regional priorities, including river and wetland restoration, floodplain management, climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture and biodiversity protection. 

The report highlights collective achievements across Victoria, demonstrating how locally led action is delivering benefits for communities, agriculture and the environment. 

Key highlights from the report include: 

• 194,574 hectares of weed control across the state — reducing competition for native plants and helping nature thrive 

• CMAs worked with 640 partners, including Traditional Owners, Landcare groups, community volunteers and government partners. 

• 79 threatened species — like Platypus, Hooded Plovers and native fish — were supported through CMA led programs across Victoria. 

• CMAs provided 15,000 approvals and advice to help manage waterways and keep communities safe — that’s around 60 per working day 

Corangamite CMA CEO Dr Amber Clarke said the report reflects the strength of the CMA model in Victoria, which has been in place for almost three decades

The Actions and Achievements report reinforces the importance of regional delivery and long-term stewardship of Victoria’s natural assets, underpinned by strong governance and community engagement.
