THE BARWON FLAGSHIP PROJECT - 2024/25 PROGRESS REPORT HAS BEEN RELEASED

The Barwon Flagship project 2024-2025 Progress Report has now been released. The report provides a summary of progress on the Barwon Flagship project for the 2024/25 financial year.

The Barwon Flagship Project is being delivered as a large scale, long term (30 year) project to enhance waterway health in the Upper Barwon River catchment covering the West Branch of the Barwon River downstream of the West Barwon Reservoir and the East Branch of the Barwon River and associated tributaries (Figure 1).  The vision, objectives and strategic actions for the project are detailed in the Barwon Flagship Waterway Management Plan.

The Barwon Flagship project has four elements: 

• delivery of the environmental water entitlement from the West Barwon Reservoir
• riparian re-vegetation, weed control and native fish management
• citizen science monitoring and education activities
• project co-ordination and reporting
