EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST OPEN FOR COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES ON THE CURDIES RIVER COORDINATING COMMITTEE 

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA), on behalf of the Curdies River Coordinating Committee, is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from community members to join the Committee as community representatives. 

The Committee is seeking community representatives who can bring diverse perspectives, strong connections and a broad understanding of the Curdies River catchment.  

EOIs will be considered based on: Familiarity with the Curdies River catchment, with preference for residents within the area; Breadth of community connections, networks and participation; Commitment to diversity and inclusion; A balanced range of skills, knowledge or community involvement related to the Curdies River.  

"The Curdies River is a vital environmental, cultural and community asset, and the Committee plays a key role in ensuring its long-term health," said Sarah Holland-Clift, General Manager Community and Catchment Services Corangamite CMA, and Chair of the Curdies River Coordinating Committee.  

"We’re looking for passionate community members who can bring their knowledge, experience and local insights to help guide this important work."

About the Curdies River Coordinating Committee 

Established in 2022, the Curdies River Coordinating Committee provides a transparent and effective platform for knowledge sharing, consultation and collaboration to improve the health of the Curdies River and its tributaries. The Committee brings together government agencies, Traditional Owners, industry and community members to support a coordinated approach to river and estuary management. 

The role of the Committee is to: 

• Share research, monitoring results, management insights and local knowledge that contribute to improving the health of the Curdies River. 

• Consult on the review and implementation of management plans and strategies, including the 2017 Estuary Management Plan and recommendations from the 2005 Ecological Risk Assessment. 

• Support collaboration and provide clarity for agencies and the community regarding roles and responsibilities in Curdies River management. 

• Advise on communication approaches and materials that help keep the broader community informed about Curdies River management activities. 

• Operate as a knowledge sharing and advisory group—not as a forum for advocacy or lobbying for government policy or investment. Members wishing to undertake such activities may do so outside their capacity as Committee representatives.sharing and advisory group—not as a forum for advocacy or lobbying for government policy or investment.
