Corangamite Landcare groups have been boosted by the announcement of over $230,000 worth of funding for local projects through the Victorian Landcare Grants Program.
Last week, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambosio announced almost $2 million worth of grants for 363 projects across Victoria.
Corangamite Catchment Management Authority’s (CMA) General Manager Community and Catchment Services, Sarah Holland Clift, said the funds will support on-ground works and community projects including weed control, pest and animal control, protection of habitat, revegetation and community education across the region.
“Our Landcare groups put forward some quality applications and it is wonderful the Government was able to fund many of these. This year we were thrilled to be able to provide funding for 21 projects across our region, as well as support for 33 Landcare groups with insurance, incorporation and operating costs of their group,” Sarah said.
“The projects will add to the Corangamite region’s rich history of Landcare, with over 4,200 members volunteering their time to improving the health of the environment,” Sarah said.
The Corangamite CMA will also support some of these projects through existing programs.
